FIELD: rocket and space technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of testing of rocket and space technology, and more specifically to the control of the tightness of the body of the spacecraft. A method for monitoring the tightness of the spacecraft body, in which air pressure is created inside the spacecraft body and the conclusion about the presence of local leakage is made using a sensitive medium. As a sensitive medium, indicator particles are used, which are launched with a given step along the surface of its body and change their trajectories under the influence of the gas flow from the leak. The measurement of the velocities of these particles is carried out by the PIV method (Particle Image Velocimetry). The location of the leak is found from the minimum value of the velocity component of the indicator particle transverse to the axis of symmetry of the leak. The amount of leakage is determined automatically by a calculation method based on the difference in the transverse velocity component and the asymptotic value of the longitudinal velocity component of the indicator particle.
EFFECT: reduction of leak search time.
