FIELD: data encoding/decoding.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of encoding and decoding data, which is two-dimensional point clouds as pixel frames, in particular, when the point cloud contains dense parts and empty parts. It is proposed that, when encoding point clouds as frames, a large number of pixels is not used. A dense conversion operator optimizes the use of pixels, but requires encoding large amount of data in a stream, and its reverse operator is hard to calculate. According to present principles, a simplified conversion operator is formed according to the dense conversion operator and stored as two-dimensional coordinate matrices, which are an unfolded grid that requires small amount of space in the stream. The reverse operator is easily formed according to the unfolded grid.
EFFECT: optimization of the point cloud distributed along the frame with effective embedding of the reverse conversion operator inside the flow.
