SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a thin optical protective element containing a reflecting or refractive light-redirecting surface, the relief pattern whereof is capable of redirecting incident light from a light source and forming a projected image on the projection surface, wherein the optical parameters of said optical protective element comply with a specific projection criterion so that the projected image comprises a caustic pattern reproducing a reference image easily visually recognisable by a person. The present invention also relates to a method for manufacturing a relief pattern of the optical protective element.
