SUBSTANCE: method for long-term storage of mammoth tusks involves applying an adhesive solution containing 99 measures of an aqueous adhesive solution of PVA-construction and 1 measure of salicylic acid anilide to a cleaned, fat-free and dried mammoth tusk under sterile conditions. The mammoth tusk treated with an adhesive solution is stored in sterile conditions until the adhesive solution dries completely on its surface. Wet snow or crushed ice crumbs are applied and compacted on the mammoth tusk to create an ice crust with a thickness of at least 1 cm. The mammoth tusk is repeatedly alternately dipped in distilled water in a calm state and /or gas-saturated distilled water in a turbulent state when flowing around the mammoth tusk at a water temperature of 0-(-1,4)°С. The mammoth tusk is to be frozen at an air temperature of minus 18°C to minus 40°C until it reaches in thickness of the tusk or its ice crust stable temperature not higher than minus 18°C. Storage of frozen mammoth tusk is carried out in rooms, where air temperature is constantly maintained from minus 5°C to minus 12°C.

EFFECT: proposed method for long-term storage of mammoth tusks provides protection from destructive effects of sublimation, putrefaction and oxidative effects and preservation of its natural state, which is necessary for subsequent study, exposure or processing into raw materials for bone-cutting skills.
