The method includes continuous measurements during rolling of the actual values of the motor current of the main drive of the rolling mill, on the basis of which the actual value of the Dfact dispersion of the mentioned motor current is calculated, which is compared with the previously obtained reference value of the DVconst dispersion of the motor current at a constant rolling speed in the absence of vibration with the determination of the proportionality coefficient , while at the value of the proportionality coefficient , the occurrence of the initial stage of critical vibration is recorded.

EFFECT: use of the invention makes it possible to increase reliability of the rolling mill and quality of the rolled metal surface.
