FIELD: heating.
SUBSTANCE: non-sealed direct-flow water heater configured so as to prevent damage thereto in case of an installation error. The water heater comprises a water tank with a heating element and a normally open outlet pipe, wherein the outlet pipe is equipped with a water flow-sensitive apparatus containing: a one-way valve allowing water to flow from the tank to the outer end of the outlet pipe but preventing the opposite water flow, and/or an outlet mechanism for controlling the water flow, configured to deactivate the heating element if a water flow towards the tank is detected in the outlet pipe or if the water flow is absent. Also presented is method for preventing damage to the direct-flow water heater.
EFFECT: creation of a direct-flow water heater resistant to damage during installation.
