SUBSTANCE: descaling device (21) for descaling the hydraulic circuit of a hot-beverage producing machine is described. Descaling device comprises descaling-chemicals reservoir (23) provided with outlet port (25) arranged at or near the bottom portion. Device further comprises inlet port (29) and water flow passage (31) extending from inlet port (29) to descaling-chemicals reservoir (23). Outlet port (25) is provided with closure member (27) openable upon connection of the descaling device with a hydraulic circuit of a hot-beverage producing machine. Inlet port (29) and outlet port (25) can be placed in fluid communication, such that water can be sucked through inlet port (29), caused to flow through descaling-chemicals reservoir (23) and discharged through outlet port (25).

EFFECT: invention concerns a method of descaling the hydraulic circuit of a hot-beverage producing machine, such as a coffee or espresso machine.
