FIELD: coffee machines.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to coffee machines and valve devices suitable for use in coffee machines. The coffee machine contains a water tank (30), a water heater (34), a water pump (36), a coffee vessel (16) for receiving ground coffee, a water supply system for supplying heated water to the coffee vessel. The hydraulic circuit connects the water tank, water heater, water pump, coffee container and water supply system. The hydraulic circuit includes a passive valve device containing an inlet channel (92), an outlet channel (94), a valve element (96) between the inlet and outlet channels. The valve element is offset to isolate the inlet and outlet channels and is configured to connect the inlet and outlet channels in response to pressure present in the inlet channel. An integrated valve status detector (102) provides valve status feedback for use in controlling the operation of the coffee machine.
EFFECT: automation of alternating supply of steam and water, as well as maintaining the freshness of coffee beans in the grinder by preventing hot steam from entering it.
