FIELD: acoustics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for generating acoustic signals. A method for generating acoustic signals, according whereto, a fibre-optic cable optically coupled with a laser and equipped with a sheath, constituting glass or plastic thread used for transfer of light and consisting of two concentric zones with different refractive indices in order to realise the condition of full internal reflection, is used as a source of acoustic oscillations, wherein a zone with optical emission-scattering centres is located in the inner zone, and the sheath of the fibre-optic cable is heated by means of a laser pulse, thereby ensuring generation of acoustic signals by converting an optical signal into an acoustic one.
EFFECT: ensured possibility of generating acoustic pulses and thus scanning the borehole and the near-borehole space without terminating the operation of the borehole or stopping other operations in the borehole, at any time and without the need to place sources of power in the borehole.
