FIELD: optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of optical instrument manufacture and pertains to a detector of the UV emission of the Earth's atmosphere. The detector includes a lens hood with light filters and entrance windows, a detection unit containing photosensors, two temperature sensors and an electronics unit. Four silicon photomultiplier tubes (SPMTs) are used as photosensors. The first temperature sensor is located in the detection unit, and the second one is located in the electronics unit. The lens hood constitutes a protective casing made of an aluminium alloy with a light-absorbing protective coating, containing four rectangular entrance windows. The two central entrance windows are located opposite the SPMTs, and the end windows are displaced relative to the SPMTs. The protective casing is made with transverse light-impermeable partitions for preventing light from falling on each of the SPMTs from the adjacent windows.
EFFECT: provided possibility of placing the UV emission detector on board of a CubeSat-type micro- and nanosatellite and recording and monitoring the UV emission of the Earth's atmosphere with high sensitivity, high temporal resolution in a wide field of view.
