FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy, namely to a high-strength rail used on freight railways. The rail contains, wt. %: C: 0.75 to 1.20, Si: 0.10 to 2.00, Mn: 0.10 to 2.00, Cr: 0.10 to 1.20, V: 0.010 to 0.200, N: 0.0030 to 0.0200, P ≤ 0.0250, S ≤ 0.0250, Mo: 0 to 0.50, Co: 0 to 1.00, B: 0 to 0.0050, Cu: 0 to 1.00, Ni: 0 to 1.00 , Nb: from 0 to 0.0500, Ti: from 0 to 0.0500, Mg: from 0 to 0.0200, Ca: from 0 to 0.0200, REM: from 0 to 0.0500, Zr: from 0 to 0.0200, Al: from 0 to 1.00, the rest is iron and impurities. The rail structure ranging from the outer surface of the head part as the starting position to a depth of 25 mm includes 95% or more of the pearlite structure, in area fractions, and the hardness of this structure is in the range HV 360-500. In ferrite of a pearlitic structure at a position at a depth of 25 mm from the outer surface of the head part as the initial position, the numerical density of nitride V, having a grain size of 0.5-4.0 nm and including Cr, is in the range of 1.0 × 1017 - 5.0 × 1017 cm-3.
EFFECT: high wear resistance and resistance to internal fatigue damage is provided.
