FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: rail is made from steel containing the following, wt %: C: 0.65 - 1.20, Si: 0.05 - 2.00, Mn: 0.05 - 2.00, REM: 0.0005 - 0.0500, if required, one or more components of the group consisting of the following: Ca: 0.0005 - 0.0150, Al: 0.0040 - 0.50, Co: 0.01 - 1.00, Cr: 0.01 - 2.00, Mo: 0.01 - 0.50, V: 0.005 - 0.50, Nb: 0.002 -0.050, B: 0.0001 - 0.0050, Cu: 0.01 - 1.00, Ni: 0.01 - 1.00, Ti: 0.0050 - 0.0500, Mg: 0.0005 - 0.0200, Zr: 0.0001 - 0.2000, N: 0.0060 - 0.02000, Fe and inevitable impurities are the rest. Head surface end of the rail, which passes from surface of angular part and upper part of the head to the depth of 10 mm, has pearlite structure and hardness HV equal to 320 to 500.
EFFECT: providing the required level of wear resistance and impact strength of rails.
