FIELD: testing.
SUBSTANCE: proposed are a method and a system for detecting nickel sulphide-based inclusions in sodium-calcium-silicate glass such as thermally polished glass. During and/or after the glass manufacturing process, after a stage in the float process wherein a glass sheet is produced and placed on a molten material (e.g., in a bath with a tin melt) and cooled or left to cool, e.g., using an annealing lehr, light is directed at the resulting glass, and the wavelengths of reflected light (e.g., the wavelengths of red and blue light) are analysed in order to detect inclusions. The fact whether inclusions are present in the glass is determined on the difference between how the first and second wavelengths of reflected light are diffracted and/or scattered.
EFFECT: improved glass quality control.
