FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical engineering, namely, to a spark plug exhibiting high electrical stability, and to a method for manufacture thereof. The technical result of the invention is achieved by preparing an insulator filled with a mixed material intended for forming a resistive panat and containing ZrO2 and SiO2, wherein the insulator and the mixed material contained therein are heated to a temperature T of at least 870°C, resulting in ZrO2 and SiO2 in the mixed material partially reacting with each other, forming a resistive panat containing ZrSiO4.
EFFECT: increase in the operating life of the spark plug.
