FIELD: absorbent products.

SUBSTANCE: proposed group of inventions relates to an absorbent element for an absorbent product, such as disposable diapers and sanitary pads. The absorbent element includes fibre clusters containing thermoplastic fibres and water-absorbing fibres. The absorbent element includes, in the direction of the plane of the absorbent element, a first zone wherein the multiple fibre clusters are fused with each other, and a second zone wherein the multiple fibre clusters are not fused, but twisted with each other. In at least the second zone, the fibre clusters are twisted with water-absorbent fibres. Fibre clusters include a main part formed by two opposing base surfaces and a frame surface crossing the base surfaces.

EFFECT: production of a high-quality absorbent product with improved absorption properties, exhibiting excellent shape-retaining properties.
