FIELD: pipelines cathodic protection.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of cathodic protection of underground steel pipelines. Before disconnecting cathodic protection stations (CPS) from the total number of CPS, groups of CPS are distinguished from the total number of CPS that are located on the terrain within a circle specified by the radius centered at the point of connection to the CPS pipeline, which have low values of the output current selected in the range less than or equal to 2 A, compared with the rest of the CPSs in the group, in this case, the value of the radius is set depending on the type of CPS: for urban pipelines - 300 m, and for pipelines outside settlements - 2 km, data on the operating parameters of the CPS from these groups is formed into a list sorted in ascending and decreasing order of output current of the anode grounding resistance of the CPS, then alternately disconnected into the permanent unloaded reserve of the CPS having low values of the output current, starting from the beginning of the group list and step by step increase the output current of the non-disconnected CPS, starting from the end of the group list, while preventing the transition of the "pipe-ground" potential at the control points into the area of unacceptable critical values of protective potentials.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to reduce the number of ineffectively operating CPS in the cathodic protection system due to their withdrawal into a permanent unloaded reserve.
