FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: motor drive unit for the motor built into a wheel comprises a casing and one or more capacitors and solid-state switching apparatuses placed in the casing. The casing comprises a lower compartment and an upper compartment, containing a bottom plate and a top plate, side walls extending from the bottom plate, and end sides at the transverse ends of the side walls and bottom plate. The bottom plate is equipped with cooling channels for receiving a liquid cooling agent. The casing also comprises a dividing plate covering the lower compartment. The dividing plate is in heat contact with the side walls and the capacitors. The motor drive unit additionally comprises DC buses. The DC buses are electrically connected with one or more capacitors and attached to the dividing plate and connected therewith in a heat-conducting manner. The solid-state switching apparatuses are placed in the lower compartment between the bottom plate and the dividing plate and in heat contact with the bottom plate. The capacitors are placed on the side of the dividing plate facing away from the lower compartment. The capacitors are placed in the upper compartment between the upper plate and the dividing plate. The upper compartment, the dividing plate, and the lower compartment together surround one or more capacitors and solid-state switching apparatuses.
