FIELD: mining.

SUBSTANCE: industrial machine containing a hydraulic sensor and its operation method are claimed. The industrial machine includes a sensor made with the possibility of determining a fluid characteristic of the industrial machine. The characteristic indicates a contaminant level. The contaminant is water, and fluid is oil being in a gearbox, which is actuated by an engine and which actuates a cutting reel of the industrial machine. A controller contains an electronic processor and a storage device. The controller is made with the possibility of receiving a signal from the sensor indicating the contaminant level, comparing the contaminant level with a threshold, and, when the contaminant level exceeds a threshold, implementing at least one action selected from a group consisting of giving an alarm signal and beginning of industrial machine stopping. The sensor is the first sensor of a set of sensors connected to the controller and made with the possibility of determining the characteristic of fluid being in the gearbox, while each sensor of the set of sensors is connected to the corresponding gear of the gearbox.

EFFECT: increase in the operational resource of the mining machine due to the determination of the amount of water in oil for the mining machine.
