SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an aerosol delivery device and a method for controlling the operation of an aerosol delivery device. The aerosol delivery device contains an outer case and a base. The aerosol delivery device includes a flow direction device passing from the first end of the flow direction device to the second end of the flow direction device through the outer case in such a way that a tank is formed between the flow direction device and the outer case, which forms an open space made with the possibility of receiving an aerosol precursor composition. The aerosol delivery device contains an atomizer passing through the flow direction device in a position between the first end of the flow direction device and the second end of the flow direction device. The atomizer contains a liquid transfer element and a heating element made with the possibility of evaporating at least part of the aerosol precursor composition to produce aerosol inside the flow direction device. The base contains one or more filling holes made with the possibility of receiving through them the aerosol precursor composition. A method for controlling the operation of an aerosol delivery device is also disclosed.
