FIELD: technological processes; glass industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to decoration of glass and articles made from it, and namely to a method of applying L63 brass on glass articles, and can be used in the glass industry at the technological stage of applying decorative coatings on glass household goods. Air is evacuated from the sputtering chamber to vacuum of 0.007 Pa and the basket with glass articles is rotated at a rotation speed of basket of 2 rpm. Then, argon gas is fed at pressure of 0.06 Pa and a source of ion cleaning of the surface of glass articles is switched on at the following parameters: anode voltage of 3 kV, anode current of 200 mA and cleaning time of 20 minutes. Surface layer of glass articles is cleaned by bombardment in high vacuum with argon ions with energy of 100–100,000 eV, which spray the surface layer with removal of adsorbed atoms and oxides. Then, magnetron sputtering sources with L63 brass targets are switched on, and at pressure of injected argon gas of 0.05 Pa, an opaque layer of L63 brass is applied for 30 minutes at the following parameters: source current of 12 A and voltage of 400–450 V. Layer of L63 brass is applied with a layer of preserved epoxy varnish. Then the glass products are placed in a muffle furnace for annealing and held at temperature of 200 °C for 15 minutes.

EFFECT: higher strength of decorative coating.
