SUBSTANCE: method is proposed for lowering the concentration of formaldehyde in an aqueous solution containing formaldehyde, hydroxyacetaldehyde and other carbonyl forms of sugars, including adding amino acid to the aqueous solution and maintaining the aqueous solution at a temperature for a time sufficient for the interaction of formaldehyde and amino acid by Maillard reaction to obtain the final concentration of formaldehyde and the final concentration of hydroxyacetaldehyde in the aqueous solution. The final concentration of formaldehyde is 50% or less of the initial concentration of formaldehyde in the aqueous solution, and the final concentration of hydroxyacetaldehyde is 50% or more of the initial concentration of hydroxyacetaldehyde in the aqueous solution.
EFFECT: invention provides high efficiency in implementation.
