FIELD: powder metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of powder metallurgy of refractory compounds, in particular to a method for producing powders of refractory transition metal carbides (Ti, Zr, Hf, Nb, Ta and V), which are used as ligatures, alloy components, targets for plasma spraying, independent ceramic materials and etc. A method for producing highly dispersed refractory transition metal carbides includes preparing an exothermic mixture, which is a mixture of PET plastic waste and a powder of a transition metal of group IV or V of the periodic table; combustion of an exothermic mixture to obtain a highly porous refractory transition metal carbide sinter in the mode of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis in a closed-type reactor with a gas distribution system, followed by grinding the refractory transition metal carbide sinter.
EFFECT: increasing the quality of the target product - highly dispersed refractory transition metal carbide of IV or V groups of the periodic table (Ti, Zr, Hf, Nb, Ta, V) due to a decrease in carbon and oxygen impurities in it, as well as in a decrease in energy consumption during the implementation of the method due to a decrease in the time of grinding the sinter of refractory transition metal carbides.
