SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the woodworking industry, in particular, to protective treatment of wood articles. Thermal modification is executed, forming a surface protective layer. Thermal modification is executed at a temperature of 150 to 250°C, and the surface protective layer is formed by firing to a depth of no more than 2 mm.
EFFECT: protective properties of wood, including durability, moisture resistance, and hygroscopicity, are improved.
