FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in mechanisms for conversion of rotation into reciprocation or vice versa. Mechanism for converting rotation into reciprocating movement or vice versa comprises first annular component (1) and second annular component (3), located coaxially next to each other along longitudinal axis (ΔA). Both components are made with possibility of rotation around longitudinal axis and with possibility of reciprocal movement along longitudinal axis. Side (A) of first annular component (1) adjacent to second annular component (3) is in continuous contact at least at one point with adjacent side (Γα) of second annular component (3), so that for second annular component (3) it is possible to move coaxially relative to first annular component (1), being in continuous contact at least in one point with adjacent side (A) of first annular component (1). Contacting sides are smooth corrugated surfaces (A), (Γα), formed in the form of a geometrical point of radii, passing through the smooth wavy curves (α), (γα) of the outer cylindrical surface of the first and second annular components (1), (3), respectively, starting from their outer surface and differing by the number n, where n is a natural number ≠0, repeating pairs of geometrically similar peaks and troughs with similarity ratio of 1:3. Vertices of wavy surface of first annular component (1) are made with possibility of contact with vertices of corrugated surface of second annular component (3). Peculiarities of mechanism wavy surfaces and features of interaction of the first and second ring components (1), (3) are disclosed. Disclosed is the use of a mechanism for converting rotation into a reciprocating movement or vice versa for a device for increasing/decreasing the number of reciprocating movements for a cylinder of a piston machine, in the clutch device, in the differential device, for the device for increasing/decreasing the number of revolutions, for the device for increasing/decreasing the number of reciprocating movements, for connection of electric machine with two identical machines with cylinders, in two-cylinder machine, in cylinder of piston machine, in two-cylinder piston machine of double action.

EFFECT: simplified design and reduced number of components in the device.
