FIELD: power industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates power industry. Ice detection module contains first and second temperature sensors rigidly interconnected by frame or body spaced along longitudinal axis, first and second electric heaters. Sensors and heaters are made with the possibility of fastening on controlled long-length structural elements. Electric heaters are spaced along the longitudinal axis of the module at a distance L1. Each heater consists of two identical sections separated by a distance L2 less than the distance L1. Each of the temperature sensors is installed at an equal distance L2/2 between the respective sections of the heaters. The module contains a microprocessor, a wireless communication transceiver and an electrical power supply. The first and second heaters are connected to the power source through the mentioned microprocessor with the possibility of their asynchronous activation with a time delay Δt. The microprocessor provides a circuit for determining the difference ΔT (t) of the surface temperatures T1 (t) of the first and T2 (t) of the second sections of the controlled element as a function of time.

EFFECT: providing thermophysical detection of icing of overhead power lines wires and other long elements with increased detection accuracy.
