Decoded spectral values are obtained based on encoded information, which is spectral values; two or several most significant bits per spectral value are co-decoded based on corresponding symbol codes for a set of spectral values, using arithmetic decoding, while the corresponding symbol code is two or several most significant bits per spectral value for one or several spectral values; one or several least significant bits associated with one or several spectral values are decoded, depending on how much information is available about the least significant bit so that one or several least significant bits associated with one or several spectral values are decoded, whereas the least significant bits are not decoded for one or several other spectral values, for which one or several most significant bits are decoded, and which contain more bits than one or several most significant bits.
EFFECT: increase in the quality of audio data processing.
