SUBSTANCE: technical result is achieved by selecting between the first mode, in which the decoding of spectral values in the higher frequency range is passed in response to the signaling from the encoder and wherein least significant bits are decoded for all spectral values for which one or more most significant bits are decoded and which contain more bits than most significant bits, and a second mode, in which one or more least significant bits associated with one or more spectral values are decoded, while least significant bits are not decoded for one or more other spectral values for which one or more most significant bits have been decoded and which contain more bits than most significant bits.

EFFECT: ensures minimum distortion of audio data with simultaneous creation of the number of bits below the bit budget.
