SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a striking mechanism for a wristwatch, a pocket watch, or other type of watch containing a clock mechanism, wherein said striking mechanism can operate in at least two different striking modes and with at least two different melodies and/or on at least two different groups of gongs. Substance: the striking mechanism (100) for a wristwatch or a pocket watch (1000) comprises: a watch snail (190) driven by a clock mechanism (200), a movable striking unit (2) containing a ratchet wheel (22) and a repeater pinion (24), a rotary clock rack (20) for determining the position of the snail (19) and the drive of the pinion (24), a pawl (85) driven into motion at each strike to turn the ratchet wheel (22), with a mode-switching mechanism (9) for providing the user with a possibility to enable a specific striking mode, including, among other various modes, a silent mode determining the angular position of the cam (90) containing an external shaped surface (98), the largest radius (98S) whereof in the silent mode diverts the tip (61) of the lever (60) of the silent mode to set it to a position wherein the main shoulder (64) thereof diverts the pawl (85) from the ratchet wheel (22) to disable all watch striking functions.
EFFECT: provided possibility to switch striking modes, or melodies, and/or groups of gongs used in executing striking functions by a simple and reliable method which allows for application of effective safety apparatuses of medium complexity.
