SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for manufacturing a honeycomb body for a catalytic converter for treating exhaust gases, wherein the honeycomb body has a plurality of flow channels, which are through flowing from the inflow side to the outflow side, wherein the honeycomb body is made of several metal layers lying on top of each other, wherein the method has the following steps: making the corrugated sections in the metal band, wherein the corrugated sections follow each other directly or are spaced apart by smooth sections, creation of preliminary bending of metal tape on end section of corresponding section, folding on each other of separate sections of metal tape to create stack of layers, wherein separate sections are alternately folded on each other in opposite directions, insertion of stack of layers into housing (19) and permanent or mechanical connection of stack of layers with housing (19) in areas of contact between pack of layers and housing (19).
EFFECT: disclosed is a method of making a honeycomb body.
