FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to honeycomb members designed to decrease content of harmful matter in exhaust gases. Proposed method of manufacture of honeycomb member with great number of through channels to pass fluid medium formed by several layers of at least partially structurized metal sheets comes to the following: several at least partially structurized metal sheets are placed in layers in at least one stack and then each stack is folded in two along bending line to form pack of metal sheets with curved first end zone and second end zone arranged opposite to first end zone formed by first and second end sections of pack. First end face surface of first end section forms, together with middle plane, first angle α, and second end face surface of second end section forms, together with said middle plane, second angle α in which first angle β, is smaller than second angle β. Each stack of metal sheets is placed in case in which it is held twisting device in central zone and is twisted to form honeycomb member by turning the twisting relative to case. Design of stack of metal sheets for making honeycomb member is described in invention. EFFECT: provision of uniform soldered joint between honeycomb member and tubular housing. 10 cl, 8 dwg
