FIELD: refrigerating equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to thermoelectric elements — converters of electric energy to cold. Thermoelectric cooler contains one or more thermoelements consisting of n- and p-type branches, metal plates, providing connection of ends of n- and p-branches, hot and cold junctions on ends of branches formed during current flow. Metal plates at the cold junctions contact the ends of the branches during current flow and open after the current is switched off.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of thermoelectric cooler.
