SUBSTANCE: invention relates to railway transport, in particular to the design of a covered hopper car. The hopper car includes running gear, a frame (1) and a body consisting of side and end walls, bunkers equipped with unloading hatches, and a roof (5) equipped with a loading opening. The loading opening is made in the form of a rectangle, the large sides of which are oriented along the longitudinal axis of the roof, and provided with covers, the first opposite sides of which are oriented along the longitudinal axis of the roof. One of the first sides of each cover of the loading opening is pivotally connected to the roof, the second opposite sides of each cover are oriented perpendicular to the first two sides. The end face of the second side of each lid, facing the adjacent lid, is provided with a vertical flat wall rigidly connected to the lid. On the first vertical wall of each subsequent cover along its length, a locking element is rigidly fixed, made with the possibility of covering the second vertical wall, made on the adjacent previous cover, providing overlapping of the junction of two adjacent vertical walls. On the second vertical wall, a horizontal support platform is made, facing from the first vertical wall of the adjacent subsequent cover. The locking element of the first vertical wall provides simultaneous coverage of the second vertical wall and fastening of the sealing element on it with the possibility of the sealing element resting against the horizontal area of ​​the second vertical wall when the covers of the loading opening are closed.
