SUBSTANCE: invention relates to veterinary medicine and concerns a method for obtaining a vaccine against coccidiosis of poultry, containing live oocysts of at least one Eimeria species in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, where the vaccine contains 0.3-1.5% in terms of weight to volume of xanthan gum, which provides a viscosity of the vaccine from 200 to 4000 mPz. The method includes a stage of mixing live oocysts of at least one Eimeria species in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier together with xanthan gum up to 0.3-1.5% in terms of weight to volume. The composition contains xanthan gum, the concentration of which is such that after mixing, the resulting vaccine contains 0.3-1.5% in terms of weight to volume of xanthan gum. The composition containing xanthan gum additionally contains metal salt in a concentration of at least 0.1% in terms of weight to volume, and the concentration of metal salt in the specified composition is such that the resulting vaccine contains less than 0.4% in terms of weight to volume of metal salt. The composition containing xanthan gum and metal salt has been sterilized by heating, and metal salt is sodium chloride or potassium chloride.

EFFECT: invention provides for the prevention of an irreversible and sharp decrease in the viscosity of the vaccine.
