METHOD OF EVALUATING PROPERTIES OF POLYMER MEMBRANE Russian patent published in 2022 - IPC G01N15/00

Abstract RU 2767951 C1

FIELD: physics; chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to physical and chemical methods of studying polymer solutions and can be used in the process of making porous polymer films and hollow fibres. Method for evaluating properties of a polymer membrane by determining the deposition rate of a polymer solution to obtain a porous polymer film by contacting a precipitator using a diffusion cell and evaluation of the porous structure of the membrane involves visual observation of the deposition process through an optical microscope and recording on a video camera, wherein a diffusion cell is used, which is a channel filled with a polymer solution with depth of 100–1000 mcm and formed by two parallel transparent plates installed at distance of 10–500 mcm, so that the channel on one side is limited by a partition, and on the other side is in contact with the atmosphere and serves to introduce a precipitant, the total thickness of the deposited polymer layer is measured, wherein the deposition rate of the layer of the polymer solution is calculated from the ratio of the total thickness of the deposited polymer layer (d, mcm) to its deposition time (t, s) as an average value based on 5 measurements for the polymer solution, and according to a predetermined relationship between permeability and deposition rate, membrane permeability is estimated.

EFFECT: possibility of using a small amount of polymer solution and reducing the number of research steps for determining the optimum composition of the moulding solution.
