SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a group of inventions: a device configured for contact with a medium, and a method for reducing swelling of a vulcanizate when in contact with the medium. This device contains vulcanizate and liquid medium. Vulcanizate is made in the form of a belt, a hose, a wire or a cable, an inner lining, a shock absorber, a machine fittings, a storage container lining, a storage container, electrical insulation, bearing, shutoff element or container cover; seals or sealant, diaphragm, vulcanization diaphragm, fuel lines, fuel filters, membranes for fuel filtration. Vulcanizate contains a copolymer of at least one isoolefin and at least one conjugated multi-olefin. Liquid medium contains oxymethylene ether. Vulcanizate is in contact with the medium. This method involves providing a copolymer of at least one isoolefin and at least one conjugated multi-olefin for making a vulcanizate.

EFFECT: reduced degree of swelling of elastic vulcanized rubber products (vulcanizates) in contact with oxymethylene ether or with a medium containing oxymethylene ether.
