SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method of treating tobacco material, a device for treating tobacco material, a treated tobacco material, a tobacco industry product containing the treated tobacco material and use of the treated tobacco material. Method of treating tobacco material involves periodically contacting the initial tobacco material with a heated surface in order to obtain a treated tobacco material with a moisture content of 0 to 10 % of volatile substances removed during heating (OV). Tobacco material is mixed with the help of a heated screw mechanism, and contact with the heated surface exposes the tobacco material to a sudden and intense thermal effect, which leads to the fact that the tobacco becomes locally dried or burnt.

EFFECT: increased output of products of Maillard reactions and caramelization is provided and, as a result, tobacco with enhanced taste profile or enhanced organoleptic properties is obtained, as well as reduced unpleasant or irritating agents with preservation of taste characteristics of tobacco.
