FIELD: shipbuilding.
SUBSTANCE: screw propeller contains a damping device consisting of layered plates separated by free gaps. The lowest resonant frequency of each of plates coincides with one of resonant frequencies of the screw propeller. Plates include layers of metal and vibration damping material between them. Plates are installed coaxially on a single rod support. The damping device is installed in a cylindrical cavity in a blade of the screw propeller. The rod support is fixed in the cylindrical cavity between the blade and the cover of the cylindrical cavity. Layered plates have the same diameter, but different thickness.
EFFECT: increase in the efficiency of the damping device on several resonant frequencies of high-order oscillation modes of the screw propeller.
