FIELD: optic fiber technology.
SUBSTANCE: billet of optical fiber and the method used for the manufacture of ultra-low attenuation optical fiber, as well as optical fiber, are disclosed. The optical fiber billet contains a core rod and a shell covering the core rod from the outside; the core rod contains a core layer doped with potassium and a core layer doped together with potassium and fluorine, sequentially arranged from the inside out; the shell contains an inner shell and an outer shell sequentially arranged from the inside out, with the inner shell containing a deep layer doped with fluorine and a shallow layer doped with fluorine sequentially arranged from the inside out; and the gap between the core rod and the inner shell forms the first space. Moreover, the gap between the inner shell and the outer shell forms a second space.
EFFECT: present invention makes it possible to solve the problem of attenuation caused by high voltage at the interface in an optical fiber with ultra-low attenuation, and the manufacture of an optical fiber with ultra-low attenuation.
