FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to produce an electrodeposited protective coating. Method of improving corrosion resistance of a metal substrate involves electrophoretic deposition of a curable composition on the substrate and curing the obtained coating by heating. Curable composition contains a resin phase dispersed in an aqueous medium. Said resin phase contains a non-thickened resin containing active hydrogen atoms with cationic salt groups, at least partially blocked polyisocyanate curing agent and an inorganic lamellar pigment having an average equivalent spherical particle diameter of at least 0.2 mcm. Weight ratio of pigment to binder is at least 0.5. Curable composition contains less than 8 wt. % of grinding carrier.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of corrosion resistance of coating.
