FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry and specifically to methods of determining copper (I) and can be used in determining copper (I) in process solutions, natural and industrial waters of galvanic production. Method of determining copper (I) involves preparing a sorbent, a copper (II) solution, by adding hydroxylamine hydrochloride to reduce copper (II) to copper (I), extraction of copper (I) from the solution with a sorbent and its conversion into a complex compound on the surface of the sorbent, separation of the sorbent from the solution, measuring the diffuse reflection coefficient of the surface complex of copper (I) and estimating the content of copper by a calibration curve, wherein the sorbent used is silica gel, successively modified with polyhexamethylene guanidine and 2,2'-diquinoline-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid, and the diffuse reflection coefficient is measured at 560 nm.
EFFECT: decrease in the detection limit and a wider range of determined concentrations.
