FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention is used in the field of electric power engineering for mechanical removal of ice and icy deposits from wires and lightning protection cables. According to the method, nitinol wire is embedded in the core of wires and lightning protection cables along their entire length. Wires and lightning protection cables are heated with an increased current. When heated above the temperature of the reverse martensitic transformation of the wire material, pulsed shaking of these wires and lightning-proof cables is provided, due to which ice and icy deposits are removed from them.

EFFECT: reduced duration of the process of removing ice and icy deposits, reduced power consumption and increased reliability.
