FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method includes emitting and receiving probe pulses via a high frequency connection of the transmission line, a matched filtering of the received pulses, measurement with at least one air temperature sensor surrounding the power line. Coordinated filtering of the received pulses is produced by several filters, the frequency characteristics of which take into account the attenuation of the corresponding probe pulses at different frequencies, with account for the temperature of the air surrounding the transmission line, and also taking into account the thickness of the wall and the density of the frost deposits. By exceeding the set value by the maximum of the results of the agreed filtration, simultaneously with the decision on the presence of ice deposits, a decision on the presence of frost deposits is made, also the wall thickness and the density of frost deposits are additionally determined, taking into account the index of the comparison scheme, from which a signal that the set point has been exceeded has arrived, and also are calculated the value of the running mass of ice-frost deposits based on the wall thickness and the density of ice-frost deposits with account of the radius of the electric power transmission line.
EFFECT: ensuring the detection of the presence of ice-frost deposits and determining the wall thickness, density and running weight of ice-frost deposits on wires and lightning protection cables of power transmission lines.
