FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering for monitoring ice formations on lightning protection cables and conductive wires of overhead power transmission lines of electric networks with a voltage of 110-220 kV. According to the invention, the system consists of two monitoring modules, one of which is placed on a live wire, and the other on a lightning protection cable. The module for monitoring the state of the wire placed on the live wire contains a common power supply unit, which is also used to power the module for monitoring the state of the lightning protection cable through the supply channel of the optical cable. The information taken from the sensors of the monitoring module placed on the lightning protection cable is transmitted via the information channel of the optical cable to the means of remote transmission of information located in the monitoring module of the state of the wire placed on the hot wire.
EFFECT: elimination of interference when detecting ice-frost deposits on a lightning protection cable and a current-carrying wire of an overhead power transmission line.
