SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an air conditioner. The air conditioner includes: a refrigerant circuit (70) containing a compressor (1), a condenser (5), an expansion valve (4) and an evaporator (3) and configured to circulate the refrigerant; a suction temperature sensor (21) configured to measure a suction temperature of the refrigerant sucked into the compressor (1); and an outside air temperature sensor (11) configured to measure the outside air temperature. The refrigerant includes at least one of R290 and R1270. In heating mode, when the value obtained by subtracting the outdoor temperature from the suction temperature is less than -2.0°C, the opening degree of the expansion valve (4) is reduced; and when the said value is greater than +0.6°C, the expansion valve (4) opening degree is increased.
EFFECT: creating an air conditioner that can use an HC refrigerant with a low global warming potential as a refrigerant and that is able to provide a higher COP than using R32
