FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: converting machine is used to convert sheet material into packaging templates for assembly into boxes or other packaging. Converting machine includes conversion unit, which performs functions of transverse conversion and functions of longitudinal conversion on sheet material for creation of package templates. Mechanism for detecting fold lines for accordion folding detects the presence and location of fold lines for accordion folding in the sheet material. Based on arrangement of fold lines for accordion folding, fold lines for accordion folding are either cut from sheet material, or sheet material is cut to adjust position of fold line for accordion folding in package template.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to reduce the storage space, which is usually required for periodically used shipping materials, to reduce losses, associated with inaccurate process of prediction of requirements for size of boxes, since dispatched articles and their respective dimensions vary from time to time.
