FIELD: hydraulic engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of hydraulic engineering, namely to navigable channels located as part of a hydropower unit and designed to pass ships through the pressure front of the hydroelectric complex. The navigable canal includes a dam with a hydroelectric power plant (HPP) building and a weir located on it. Nearby there is a lock containing the chamber and upstream and downstream approach channels connected to the upstream and downstream pools of the hydropower unit. The lock chamber is limited by gates installed in the upper and lower heads of the lock. In the lower approach channel, at a distance from the lower gate of the lock not less than 1.5 of the estimated length of a large-tonnage vessel, a low-pressure dam with navigation openings blocked by gates was built. The basin formed between the dam and the lower gates of the lock has a depth equal to 1.2-1.5 of the design draft of a large-tonnage vessel, and the height of the dam corresponds to the depth of the basin, taking into account the magnitude of the water level fluctuation in the downstream approach channel.
EFFECT: elimination of the effect of water level fluctuations in the downstream approach channel on the depth in the lower head of the sluice.
