FIELD: optical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of optical engineering, in particular to a device for single-sided transmission of terahertz radiation based on the Faraday effect, and can be used as an optical decoupling element. A device based on the Faraday effect for single-sided transmission of terahertz radiation in the frequency range from 0.1 to 0.65 THz, containing an input polarizer, an element that rotates the polarization plane, and an output polarizer fixed along the optical axis with a holder made of non-magnetic material. The element that rotates the plane of polarization is a high-density M-type barium-aluminum hexaferrite magnetized to saturation.
EFFECT: reduction in the transmission of THz radiation in the undesirable, reverse direction to a level of no more than 1% is achieved, while at the same time high transmission.
