FIELD: biotechnology and microbiology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology and microbiology. A method is proposed for determining the permeability of woven and nonwoven materials - personal protective equipment against bacterial and fungal infection by airborne droplets and household contact. The method includes visual inspection, rejection of the studied samples with mechanical damage, cutting into flaps with a diameter of 90 mm, further sterilization in a steam sterilizer or an open type UV lamp; then the flaps are sequentially placed on cassettes with a nutrient medium, installed in a Sartorius MD8 AirPort instrument with an air flow rate of 100 l/min, covered with a funnel; air sampling time 1 min. Then the test sample, placed in a Petri dish with a nutrient medium corresponding to the tested microorganism, and a cassette with a nutrient medium are thermostated at 362°С for 484 hours, the number of colonies grown on the dishes is counted, and the filtration efficiency is calculated according to the presented formula.

EFFECT: invention provides an increase in the reliability of the assessment of the permeability of personal protective equipment against bacteria and fungi spread by airborne droplets.
