FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the biotechnology. Disclosed is a method of preserving bacteria in faecal microbiota and bacterial cultures recovered from faecal microbiota grown on dense agarized nutrient or differential media. Method comprises mixing 0.1 g of sample in cryogenic test tube in 2 ml in ratio of 1:2 with cryoprotective medium consisting of distilled water 500 ml, bacteriological dry European agar 2 g, NaCl 2.5 g, yeast extract 1 g, L-cysteine 0.2 mg, pancreatic hydrolyzate of casein 8.5 mg, dextrose 5 g with addition of 10 % glycerine, vortex stirring for 2–5 min. Cryotubes put in by the cover are placed into the corresponding storage. Thawing of cryotubes is performed immediately before the tests.

EFFECT: method ensures preservation of titre and viability of bacteria during storage in conditions of low temperatures.
