FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of recognizing a traffic light signal on board a train. In the method, at the first stage, two three-channel images are obtained from a camera installed in the direction of movement of the vehicle, with a high exposure R1G1B1 and a low exposure R2G2B2, at the second stage, using a neural network detector, the image obtained with high exposure is processed in order to determine the location of the traffic light on the frame and, using the neural network segmenter, framing it with a rectangular frame, at the third step, a rectangular frame is superimposed on the image with low exposure in accordance with the frame framing the traffic light obtained at the second step, and both images are cut along the perimeter of this frame, at the fourth stage, the images obtained at the third stage are superimposed by sequential arrangement of colour channels of images in the format R1G1B1R2G2B2, then, at the fifth stage, using the models of deep convolutional classifiers, the combined image obtained at the fourth stage is processed in order to classify the type of traffic light and at the final stage, using the neural network classifier, the colour of the traffic light is recognized based on its type.
EFFECT: improving traffic safety by implementing the function of recognizing traffic light signals at night.
